The MUSC Drug Discovery Core (DDC) is a specialized resource providing tools, facilities, and expertise for therapeutic development, chemical biology, and translational science. The DDC strives to link together the pharmacology and medicinal chemistry of cell signaling, and cheminformatics through thoughtful study of the effects and properties of chemicals and proteins for researchers and biotechnology companies in South Carolina.
The primary goal of the DDC is to facilitate the discovery of new chemical probes with the focused vision of creating experimental therapeutics.
Another goal of the DDC is education by providing students the opportunity to learn innovative techniques while doing real world experimentation is critical to the mission of MUSC and the DDC.
The mission of the DDC is to keep MUSC abreast of and competitive in the areas of academic drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, target engagement, cheminformatics, and generation of intellectual property.
